The festival is sponsored annually by three local Italian clubs – Sons of Italy, UNICO and Sorelle D’Italia in America. Organizer David Zoni, of UNICO, said it will be held Friday July 26 from 5 to 11 p.m., Saturday from 1 to 11 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. Vendors will line both sides of the street selling food, crafts and other items. There will also a main stage area with plenty of room to sit under shaded tents or in the sun while eating and enjoying music and performances. Additionally, Zoni said that the Children’s Carnival in Factory Square will have expanded offerings this year including more games for older children.

“Come down for the food and wonderful entertainment as we promote Italian-American Heritage in Southington and keep our traditions alive for everybody to enjoy,” Zoni said.

One of those traditions is an Italian Mass, which will be held at 10 a.m., followed by the procession of the Madonna della Strada statue. The festival will also have its annual wine contest, with judging Saturday at 2 p.m.

There will also be a raffle held during the festival. There will be a ticket booth at the event and the three sponsor clubs are selling tickets in advance. First prize will win a $1,00 Visa gift card, second prize wins a 65 inch Visio television, third place wins $250 in lottery tickets and fourth place wins a 43 inch LED TV.

Friday’s entertainment will include Marcello Sparagna and Teo Ricciardella in the evening. At the end of the day, “The Jersey Four,” a Frankie Valli tribute band, will perform.

Saturday’s lineup includes the Sam Vinci Band and Charley Tiernan and in the evening Vittorio DeCarlo and Biagio Benevenga. Between acts, Sorelle D’Italia will perform traditional Tarantella dances.

On Sunday, “Head over Heels”, a show band, will perform the music of Earth Wind and Fire, Michael Jackson and others. Later that evening, Greg Allen will perform “Malt Shop Memories”, which will feature music from 1955 to 1965.
