liqueur Hemp

A hemp-infused spirit. It sounds very illegal but it is not as hemp oil is freely available in heath shops and extremely healthy. Hemp has a slight nutty, piney flavour. You don’t really taste it much in a vodka, but what happens is it makes the vodka really smooth and the taste is less prominent than in flavoured spirits such as raspberry vodka.

A basic recipe

1/4 oz. of stockpiled cannabis stems from breaking up buds - or - hemp oil

Vodka (any vodka will do)

Glass container/jar

Place all stockpiled stems in a jar. Pour in your vodka, just enough to fully submerge the stems.
(200 ml. or 8 ounces should do it).
Let set in a dark place for about a week. After that, you will need to strain out the stems using a paper coffee filter or cheese cloth.

Alternative by infusing hemp seeds in alcohol

Cannabis seeds are steeped in the high proof alcohol, preferably grain alcohol. This high proof alcohol dissolves the alcohol soluble oils from Cannabis seeds which contribute to the final Cannabis vodka taste. Once the oils are properly dissolved the seeds are removed and the charge is filtered, diluted and finally bottled with those Cannabis seeds. The seeds will add some more taste but overall - make it look great!

Try it with orange juice and/or cranberry

"Potka screwdriver" can be made by mixing the hemp infused vodka or "potka"with orange juice. .Absolutely fabulous!

Also try the following: freeze cranberry juice in ice cube trays and serve the "potka" over cranberry ice cubes. The melting cubes add additional color and flavor to the "Potka".

What you did not know about hemp

Hempseeds and hemp oil are highly nutritious and very tasty. Hempseeds are an excellent source of protein, minerals, and dietary fibre. Hemp is the only plant that contains all of the essential fatty acids and amino acids required by the human body. These essential nutrients affect a variety of body functions, including metabolism, the skin, mood, behaviour, the brain, and the heart.

Many people eat fish and take fish oil supplements to get these essential fats, however concerns around over fishing and the chemical contamination of modern fish have made many choose to switch to hemp instead.

Hemp is also good for animals, and some veterinarians recommend including it in the diets of pets and livestock. In Europe, fishermen sprinkle hempseed on the water as an effective bait. When hempseed is included in bird seed, songbirds will pick it out of the mix as they prefer it over other seeds.

Hemp foods are becoming more and more popular as the public discovers the nutritional benefits and culinary uses of hemp.
